With our new Committee Members onboard, NZIX held its 3rd annual Strategy Day, to focus on the year ahead. This year, the team gathered in Sydney, where it made a refreshing change to meet for a full day of face time, instead of Zoom time. We’d like to thank IAA’s CEO, Narelle Clark, for her time and participation.
The day’s agenda centred on strategy, governance, and technical planning. Succession planning was a key governance focus, resulting in a reshuffling of sub-committees and appointments to Deputy Officer roles, to ensure continuity and effective leadership. We are pleased to announce Callum Barr as Deputy Chair, Simon Allard as Deputy Treasurer, and Shaun Fisher as Deputy Secretary.
In the afternoon, the Committee welcomed IAA’s tech experts, Nick Pratley and Aaron Chidiac, for a technical session. We focused on future product launches and PoP (Point of Presence) locations were debated. As a result, NZIX now has aspirations to launch two new PoPs in 2025/26 and another in 2026/27—details to come soon! The team is also excited about upcoming Virtual Leased Line (VLL) offerings and a 100Gbps upgrade for CHC-IX. We appreciate your patience as our tech team works to deliver these exciting improvements.
Additionally, the Committee agreed to host another Member social event in Wellington, scheduled for February 2025. Look out for details and if you’re free, we hope to see many of you there!
NZIX thrives thanks to our volunteers. We are incredibly grateful for the Committee Members’ dedication, both during Strategy Day and throughout the year, as they help us achieve our mission to make the internet in New Zealand better.
As always, if you have suggestions for locations, services, products, events, sponsorships, or simply want to say hello 😉, please reach out via our website or at admin@ix.nz.
