The Committee of the New Zealand Internet Exchange Inc (NZIX) would like to invite all members to attend the 2019 Annual General Meeting.

Date: Thursday 13th June 2019
Time: 5:30pm 
Place: The Longroom, 114 Ponsonby Rd, Grey Lynn, Auckland

There will be a presentation on the NZIX 100G Ring Project by Nathan Ward following the meeting formalities. 

RSVP now via the members portal. Additional guests can be registered for the AGM by first adding them as a contact within the portal.

Updated By-Laws: Membership

Our Committee has recently updated the NZIX by-laws to introduce 6.4, which clarifies the voting rights of any exchange participant receiving complimentary services. The updated section reads as follows:

“Members who pay for their services, and are in good standing, will be classed as Full Members (see section 5.3 of the NZIX society rules), and will therefore have voting rights in the Society and may nominate to represent their organisation on the NZIX committee. Members shall be entitled to one (1) vote on each matter submitted to the Members. Members who receive services at no charge will be classed as Affiliate Members (see section 5.4 of the NZIX society rules) and will therefore have no voting rights in the Society and may not be nominated to represent their organisation on the NZIX committee.”

100G Coming Soon!

A major upgrade of our Auckland infrastructure is underway as we roll out a new offer to NZIX Members.

From mid 2019, we are planning to offer 40G and 100G ports at all three Auckland locations.

The proposed pricing is $1250 per month for a 40G or 100G port, with a once off installation fee of $2500. Members will need to supply their own optics for their own equipment.

We can also offer LACP bundles of 10G if required.

New NZ metrics now live

For those who attended NZNOG this year, you will have heard about the massive growth experienced by NZIX over the past 12 months, with an 82% increase to traffic on the IX at peak.

Growth is only meaningful with the right analysis, so we are pleased to announce that New Zealand members can now access exclusive flow-based metrics data in the Members Portal.

Login and select the Metrics panel to view a breakdown of traffic flows by Peer . This new feature will enable members to make a more accurate assessment of the areas providing best value for their business and where they might be missing out.

Similar metrics analysis will be rolled out to Australian-based IX services over the next 9 months.

Holey Moley, alright!

It was great to see everyone tee off 2019 in style at our Holey Moley event in Aukland. The mood was festive and certainly worth the wait.

Did you putt your stuff through shark infested waters and pop culture references? We certainly improved our handicap as a result!
